Mudroom for Small spaces

This is my mudroom...well, more like "mudarea". The only space I had for a mudroom is right behind my garage door. When we first moved in I had a small chest and some hooks on the wall but no one used the chest and we ended up with tons of shoe in a pile on the floor. I really wanted a cute mudroom and this is what my husband and I came up with. My husband built it and I painted it.I am Loving the POP of color when I walk in!

Vinyl Monograms personalize each child's space.

I Love this black basket with the polka dot liner for Hobby Lobby. I really want to add 2 more baskets but they are out of them every time I go back.

We added bead board to the back for a more custom look.

I LOVE Valspar Antiquing Glaze from Lowe's. It is super easy to use and so Forgiving!
I use it on everything I paint cause I love the look! Just follow the directions on the bottle and you will love it too!!

Sits directly behind my garage door where I had a couple feet of empty space.

New Spring Monogrammed Wreath

Today I made this Spring Monogrammed Wreath and I am loving it! Hopefully it will hurry Spring along cause I am SOOOO tired of all this snow!

This wreath was super simple to make! I went to hobby Lobby and purchased a plain stick branch wreath for $5, a white letter C for $2.99, yellow and blue Spray paint and a few different small pieces of black and white printed fabric.

First, I spray painted the wreath and letter C it took about 3 times to completely cover it and less than one can of spray paint (Note: Home Depot has better and cheaper spray paint. I will go there next time!)  Once the wreath was dry I made the Fabric rosettes (instructions below) and hot glued them on the wreath. I tore some extra strips of fabric to put at the top for a little extra cuteness!

These twisted fabric rosettes are super easy to make. I cut and tore about 2 inch section in my fabric, I didn't measure the exact length but it was about 3 feet long. The I tied a tight knot at one end and glued it to a piece of felt. The size of the felt doesn't matter cause you will trim it off later.

Then you just start twisting and gluing down the fabric every so often.

When you are almost finished leave a small piece out. Take this piece and glue it to the back side of the felt and trim off all the extra felt.

I have a button maker so I made some matching 1 inch buttons and glued the on top of the rosettes but you could use regular buttons or just nothing at all would be cute too.

Thanks for stopping by!!!
Happy Spring! (almost)

A Nursery for Rylie

This has to be my very favorite room in my entire house! I painted and decorated this room when I was about 4 months pregnant with Rylie! We waited all most 10 years for this little girl and I was excited! I wanted her room to be over the top CUTE! I want a sophisticated room that she could grow into...and I love green so when I found this bedding I designed her room around it.

I found the crib and dresser hutch at a local discount furniture store DownEast Home and fell in love with it! It was a little more expensive then I would have liked but the crib makes into a toddler bed and then a full size bed so we will use this set for years to come.

Most of the other details in the room were things that I already owned and repainted. The R is from Hobby Lobby. It was gold so I painted it cream and added some ribbon and vinyl polka dots.
I bought the 2 black mirrors at Pier 1 imports years ago. They were silver so I spray painted them a glossy black and they look like new again.

I absolutely LOVE this little grand father clock! I bought it almost 10 years ago at Target when my oldest daughter was a baby. It was white and had a pink floral clock face. I repainted it black and used polka dot scrapbook paper and a new vinyl clock face to give it a whole new look! LOVE!

Easy Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms

These stuffed Portobello Mushrooms are an excellent alternative to meat. Great for Vegetarians or anyone wanting to eat a little healthier.

Here is the super simple recipe:
Portobello Mushrooms ( I made 3)
1  chopped Green Bell Pepper, 1 chopped Yellow Onion, 2  chopped Roma Tomatoes and shredded Mozzarella Cheese
First, remove the stems from the mushroom, then add a layer of cheese, then throw on all the veggies ( these are the veggies and cheese I like to use but they could easily be replaced with anything you like), finally top with more cheese. Place stuffed mushrooms on the cookie sheet and cook in oven for about 25 minutes at 350.  Then you have a delicious and nutritious and most importantly Easy meal for your family
